The habitat bank

Restoring the River Avon floodplain

Avon Meadows sits alongside the River Avon in Warwickshire, where water, grassland and woodland come together across the floodplain.

Across 17.4 hectares, the habitat bank is creating and improving neutral grassland, mixed scrub, wet woodland, river and stream habitat, and individual rural trees. Together, these habitats will bring more variety to the land and strengthen the connections running through this riverside landscape.

For developers, Avon Meadows Habitat Bank provides registered BNG units in a landscape where the work on the ground is easy to understand: restoring and connecting habitats around the river, then caring for them for the long term.

Long-term stewardship

Restored for nature. Managed for 30 years.

We’ll create and care for the habitats over the long term, checking how they develop and reporting on progress. You’ll work directly with us throughout, with a team you can turn to as your project moves forward.

Working with the floodplain

Grassland, scrub, wet woodland, trees and river habitat are being managed as parts of the same landscape, rather than in isolation. Over time, the aim is to create stronger connections across the site and more space for nature alongside the River Avon.

Funding protected for the long term

Funding for habitat management, monitoring and reporting is ring-fenced for the full 30-year term. That gives you confidence that the long-term work is provided for, while protecting the sustained management the habitats need.

Monitoring that guides the work

Ecological monitoring will track how the habitats establish and change. What we learn will guide the work on the ground, so management can respond as the site develops.
