The opportunity

A new layer of nature in the Suffolk claylands

Dennington Hall is part of a working arable farm near Framlingham, set within the rolling claylands of East Suffolk. Cropped fields sit alongside woodland in a landscape shaped by generations of farming.

We’re exploring how 22.6 hectares of cropland could support a greater variety of wildlife. Plans include new grassland, mixed scrub and scattered trees, with opportunities for hedgerows to connect habitats across the farm.

The land also lies within the headwater catchment of the River Alde. Creating more permanent habitats here could bring greater variety to the farm and strengthen the woodland setting around it.

If you’re planning a development in the area, Dennington Hall could provide a future source of local off-site BNG. Talk to us about what you need.

Planning your project

Start the conversation early

Dennington Hall is not yet registered, but surveys and habitat design are underway. You don’t need to wait to talk to us about your BNG needs.

Tell us where you’re building, the units you expect to need and when you need them. We can discuss whether we could bring the site forward in time to support your project.

A place with a long view

Strengthening the landscape around the farm

Suffolk’s plans for nature identify much of this land as somewhere that could become particularly important for biodiversity. The surrounding woodland is already recognised for its value. Creating grassland, scrub, trees and hedgerows could help strengthen that wider setting.

Care that continues

We’ll create and care for the habitats over the long term, checking how they develop and reporting on progress. You’ll work directly with us throughout, with a team you can turn to as your project moves forward.
